Paul Sharpe, I found him in the China of Portland Oregon district as it is called pushing a wheel assisted cart to help him stand. He caught my eye because he had on a logoed United States Navy jacket and had the jolliest attitude. I asked Paul what his occupation in the Navy was and he told me that he was responsible for typing classified documents. He told me that after about two years he medically retired after suffering two heart attacks.
Paul said that living on the streets was a hard thing for him because he still has seizures and a lot of times no one is there to help him. Once he medically retired from the Navy he got his associates degree in business where he tried to obtain work but due to medical issues causing him to lose his jobs ultimately leading him to living on the streets.
Paul told me that Portland was his hometown and that he wouldn’t have it any other way. His goal for himself was to find a shelter to live at that he didn’t have to get moved out of from time to time.
