“G” I met G as she was sitting alongside of the bridge in Seattle Washington and she seemed to be lost so I approached her and asked her could I sit down and speak with her. Once I sat down, I discovered that she was a veteran of the Air Force exiting service with the rank of airmen first class. She went on to tell me that she had lost everything except her husband. I asked where he was, and she told me that he was on the other side of town trying to get them into one of the shelters. During her conversation I asked her what she was drawing she told me that she was doodling. She said that doodling was what freed her mind from the pain of losing it all. I asked if she could elaborate and she said she preferred not to. She asked me did I know what it felt like to lose it all? I delayed in my response and I told her I didn’t know how to respond because my experiences would be different however, I told her I did know what the pain felt like to lose certain things. Her response was it sucks. I told her that keep fighting the good fight and that I hope she and her husband got the desires of their hearts.
