“John Doe” as soon as I approached he said don’t take any pictures of me. I asked why. I told him I was documenting stories of others. He said’ “I’m ashamed look at me!” I told him everyone has a story so I shared with him from where I’m standing and he’s sitting my time in the military and it lightened his mood. He told me he was in Vietnam. He said in March of 1965, 3,500 U.S. Marines landed in South Vietnam . He said we were the first United States combat troops on the ground, then he responded that’s all you need to know. At this point he was getting frustrated, rightfully so many veterans in this genre really don't want to share their stories. So I asked can I take a picture from this angle not showing your face and he said yes!! There are tons of vets dying daily who just want help. Many with mental heath issues others struggling with pains internal and external. If you see a vet ask them their story you’d be surprised.
