“Dean” served in the US Navy from 1991-1996 on an aircraft carrier where he deployed to Japan. He worked as a Aviation Boatswain's Mates ABF and said he enjoyed his time but when he came home he couldn’t find suitable employment which ultimately led to sleeping on the streets. He told me that when his parents were both killed he had no motivation. I then changed the conversation to sports and said,”how about those Georgia Bulldogs!” The University of Georgia and Oklahoma Sooners had recently played with the Georgia Bulldogs coming out victorious over the OU Sooners. He then smiled and said it was a good game saying he thought OU would pull it out. Even though Dean is out here living on the streets in Kansas he calls Oklahoma home. He told me that since he is in decent shape he tries to help other homeless friends who are less capable of caring for themselves. He told me that it reminded him of helping his joes while he was in the military.
