Homeless, alone, reading his newspaper Chance sat on a granite corner ledge eating food wrapped in aluminum foil that he collected over the day. He muttered it isn’t much but this will get me through the night. He and few others who are homeless gathered on the street corner where they said this is where we socialize. The ledge is on the exterior of a corporate business.
Chance told me this is their time to chat and talk with others before the city ordinances kick in for not loitering . Chance served in the US Army as a tanker from 2000- 2008 and had a combat deployment during the 2003 Iraq war and said after service made his way back home where he explained when i had a home. Chance said it’s clear that life has many twist and turns but he told me he never knew his path would lead to the streets
